The history of Flat Rock Baptist Church, as chronicled in the Histories of Flat Rock Church by Elder James S. Purefoy, Lizzie Newton, Rev. Grady Faulk, Miss Beatrice Hill, Jimmy Holmes, and Epp Catlett, is a testament to our enduring legacy. On July 10, 1999, we celebrated a momentous occasion-our 175th Anniversary. This significant milestone marked our enduring presence in the community and was a proud reminder of our rich history. To honor and celebrate this achievement, a committee was formed to document the church's history and preserve it for future generations. The committee, with its unwavering dedication, attention to detail, exhaustive research, and steadfast prayer, has played a crucial role in ensuring that our history is not lost but cherished. The committee members, including Jimmy Holmes, Chairman Lois Bell, Epp Catlett, Otha Hill, and Shirley Murphy, deserve our deepest gratitude for their wholehearted dedication to this noble cause.
Our church celebrated its bicentennial on July 10, 2024. This extraordinary date, a testament to God's grace, the prayers of His people, and His supplication, is a reminder of the spiritual journey we have all been on. It is a celebration of our faith, our resilience, and our shared commitment to our church and community.
